This summer, Omiš is absolutely buzzing with events. Following a fantastic season kickoff and the thrilling Pirate Day, we are excited to announce another night you definitely won’t want to miss. On Saturday, July 11th, it’s time for the Fishermen's Night - a summer fiesta that brings together the very best of Dalmatia: fresh fish, a glass of good wine, the sea, live music, and open-air socializing.
After more than a decade, this grand event returns to the town center, proudly organized by the Omiš Tourist Board. As part of the Omiš Summer Frei program - which features over a hundred free events throughout the summer - the Fishermen's Night offers a rich program for all generations. From top-notch local food and a lively water polo tournament to children's workshops and a concert by Giuliano & Diktatori, there is something for everyone.
A celebration of Dalmatian flavors
Starting at 7:00 PM, the Croatian Veterans Park transforms into a vibrant open air Mediterranean stage. The mouthwatering aroma of fresh fish sizzling on open grills will drift along the coast, welcoming visitors to enjoy the simple yet highly sought-after flavors of the Adriatic.
The menu features true Dalmatian classics: grilled sardines, mackerel and chub mackerel, traditional fish stew (brudet), and black risotto, perfectly paired with a glass of local wine. Everything is prepared by local fishermen and restauranters, preserving authenticity and simplicity, the exact ingredients that make these nights unforgettable.
Action in the sea: the "Šušur" water polo tournament
While everyone is enjoying the food and mingling on the shore, the sports action takes to the sea. From 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM, the Omiš Water Polo Club is hosting the grand finale of the 11th annual amateur tournament, aptly named "Šušur" (meaning the good summer buzz).
As always, amateur teams from Omiš and Dugi Rat will face off. You can expect dynamic matches, great sportsmanship, and a fantastic, loud atmosphere from the cheering crowd that has become the trademark of this tournament.
A creative summer tale for the little ones
Of course, we haven't forgotten our youngest guests. From 7:30 PM to 8:15 PM, children can join a free creative and educational workshop titled "Colorful Fish of the Adriatic – Meet, Assemble, and Shape!", led by Julija Tomasović and Simona Jurjević. Through fun games, kids will learn all about the most famous inhabitants of the Adriatic Sea, and then use modeling clay to create their own unique fish, give it a name, and invent its special marine superpower.
The night’s peak: Giuliano & Diktatori Live
As the sun goes down, it’s time for the music to kick in. Starting at 9:30 PM, the Croatian Veterans' Park becomes a massive summer stage for the legendary Giuliano & Diktatori. Open-air concerts in Omiš always carry a unique energy. With Giuliano's countless hits and the band's powerful performance, dancing and singing along under the stars are guaranteed well into the night.
